Mark S. Milner, MD

The Eye Center, Hamden/Branford

Mark S. Milner, MD is a specialist in corneal disease and refractive surgery. He is also an assistant clinical professor at the Yale University School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology, and received the 1999 Award of Excellence in Teaching from the Department of Ophthalmology at Yale. He is also a partner at The Eye Center- A Medical and Surgical Group, PC. Dr. Milner serves as the director of the Cornea Clinic at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Haven, CT.

Dr. Milner is Co-Medical Director at our newly opened Precision Lasik Group in Cheshire, CT. Precision was the first in the state and one of the first in the country to obtain the Sunrise laser for performing the recently FDA approved LTK procedure.

Dr. Milner received his bachelor of science degree from Union College, Schenectady, NY, and received his medical degree from S.U.N.Y. Health Science Center, Syracuse, NY. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York City, and completed his fellowship in cornea, external disease, and uveitis at the Francis L. Proctor Foundation at the University of California San Francisco.

Dr. Milner was an FDA investigator for The Sunrise Technologies LTK U.S. clinical trials for the treatment of hyperopia (farsightedness).

His professional group memberships include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, the International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS), the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), the Ocular Microbiology and Immunology Group, the Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians, and the New Haven County Medical Society. He is well published in the peer-reviewed literature.

Dr. Milner resides in Woodbridge, CT. with his family.

Joel A. Geffin,  M.D.

The Eye Care Group, Waterbury/New Haven, CT

Dr. Joel Geffin is a Board Certified ophthalmologist and fellowship trained in both corneal surgery and refractive surgery. This makes Dr. Geffin one of a select few eye surgeons who has received full fellowship training in surgery of the cornea, the external window of the eye, and refractive surgery which corrects the eye's ability to focus.

Dr. Geffin received his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Chicago and his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He completed his ophthalmology residency training at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Geffin then went on to California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco where he specialized in corneal and refractive surgery during his fellowship.

Dr. Geffin is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Refractive Surgery Interest Group, the New England Ophthalmological Society and the prestigious Castroviejo Cornea Society. Dr. Geffin is a member and on the executive board of the Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians. Dr. Geffin has published work in a major ophthalmic text book.

Alan Stern, M.D.

The Eye Center at Grove Hill, New Britain

Alan L. Stern, MD, is recognized by his peers, as an authority in Connecticut, on Laser Vision Correction. He has been active in refractive surgery since 1979, and was the first physician to perform both laser vision correction and Lasik in our state. He has served as an PDA investigator, and has trained over 60 other physicians in the clinical use of the excimer laser. Precision Lasik Group evolved from the Connecticut Excimer Laser Center founded by Dr. Stern. As an author of numerous articles and two chapters on Refractive Surgery, he has been honored by the American Academy of Ophthalmology for his teaching contributions.

Dr. Stern is board certified, and fellowship trained as a corneal surgeon, and serves as both Chief of Ophthalmology at the New Britain General Hospital, and as Medical Director of the Connecticut Eye Bank. Academically, he is an assistant clinical professor at the University ofConnecticut. His primary practice is at the Grove Hill Medical Group, NewBritain, Connecticut.

Dr. Stern has a biology degree from Villanova University, and a medicaldegree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. His ophthaImo1ogy training was at Jefferson and the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital, and he completed his fellowship training at our own University of Connecticut. He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the New England Ophthalmological Society, and various other professional groups.

Steve Zuckerman, M.D.

Danbury Eye Physicians & Surgeons

Stephen J. Zuckerman, M.D. is co-medical director of Precision Lasik Group. He was one of the first doctors in the country to use the Excimer Laser; having worked with this exciting new technology beginning in 1993. At that time, the laser was considered investigational in the United States but ten academic medical centers were allowed to offer this surgery. Dr. Zuckerman spent a full year treating laser vision patients and providing data to the FDA so that it could be approved for general use.

Dr. Zuckerman is a specialist in corneal disease and combines this with years of experience in state of the art vision correction techniques including LASIK, PRK- Laser Vision Correction, Radial Keratotomy, SunRise LTK - Laser Thermal Keratoplasty and Astigmatic Keratotomy. He has trained many surgeons in these techniques and lectures nationally and internationally in this area. He is committed to providing the highest quality care to his patients.

Stephen Jay Zuckerman received his Doctorate of Medicine from the Mount Sinai School in New York with top academic honors including the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Medical Society. He later distinguished himself as ophthalmology Resident of the Year while completing his training in eye surgery at Boston University Medical Center. He then accepted a fellowship in corneal surgery at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

As a Board certified surgeon and Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology he has received many professional memberships including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians, the Connecticut State Medical Society, the Fairfield County Medical Society and the Danbury Medical Society. He has been published in the ophthalmic and medical literature.

Dr. Zuckerman has been a partner at Danbury Eye Physicians and Surgeons in Danbury, Connecticut since 1994. He resides in Redding, CT with his family.
